چکیده

Model transformations are the core of the MDA approach to software development. As specified by the OMG, model transformations should act on any kind of model of any kind of metamodel, which implies the possible “reflective” use of model transformations, i.e., model transformations acting on model transformations. However, this requires transformation developers to be familiar with the metamodel of the transformation language itself, which is not always the case. In order to overcome such a frustrating impediment for the MTL language, and inspired by AOP approaches, we have designed and implemented an MTL weaver that modifies MTL transformations according to some weaving behavior, which is specified as special MTL transformations, called MTL-aspects, using an AOPlike extension to the MTL language. Both the weaver and the language extension are presented in this paper, and an example is used to show how transformation developers can take advantage of the proposed language extension constructs in order to write “reflective” model transformations in MTL without requiring any previous knowledge of the MTL metamodel itself.

Weaving Models with the Eclipse AMW plugin

The basic assumption in model engineering (MDE) is to consider models as first class entities. One of the most important kinds of models in MDE approaches are transformation models. Transformation models define operations between different models. However, there are many operations that are not efficiently handled by generic model transformations. For example, models transformations are not ada...

A Weaving Framework for Model Transformation

Model transformations are the core and research focus of MDA(model driven architecture). Nowadays, there are many model transformation approaches and tools, and the heterogeneity of them causes that the model transformation code can’t be reused easily and the cost of studying and using model transformation increases. To eliminate these shortcomings, inspired by model weaving technique, this pap...

A Controlled Experiment Template for Evaluating the Understandability of Model Transformation Languages

Several research approaches in the field of Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) are concerned with the development of model transformation languages. No controlled experiments have, however, been conducted yet to evaluate whether it is easier to write model transformations in a model transformation language (MTL) than in a general purpose programming language (GPPL). Such experiments are difficult t...

LinTraP: Primitive Operators for the Execution of Model Transformations with LinTra

The problems addressed by Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) approaches are increasingly complex, hence performance and scalability of model transformations are gaining importance. In previous work, we introduced LinTra, which is a platform for executing out-place model transformations in parallel. The parallel execution of LinTra is based on the Linda coordination language, where high-level model ...

Tissage d'aspects comportementaux

The notion of aspect looks promising for handling crosscutting concerns earlier in the software life-cycle, up from programming to design, analysis and even requirements. This paper proposes a technique to encapsulate and weave behaviors described as sequence diagrams in base models which contain a finite set of sequence diagrams. The weaving process is twophased. Firstly the detection phase se...
